Emerging from the Brazilian state of Bahia, Maragogipe coffee is known for producing a large and imposing plant with equally impressive elongated beans. Due to its unique growing conditions, the resulting beans, which are produced in small quantities, make for an intensely aromatic coffee. A naturally occurring mutation of the Typica variety, Maragogipe is well adapted to colder climates, boasting a higher caffeine content than many other varieties and offering a distinct flavor profile. The Typica group, like all Arabica coffee, is thought to have originated in southwestern Ethiopia.
